Alice in Chains were already a big band when they released 1994's Jar of Flies (their appearance in Cameron Crowe's generation-defining 1992 film Singles took care of that), but the EP elevated them to another level both creatively and commercially. Moving more than 140,000 units in the United States in its first week, Jar of Flies was the first EP to debut at the top of the Billboard 200.
[Chorus: Layne Staley] Into the flood again Same old trip it was back then So I made a big mistake Try to see it once my way, yeah [Outro: Layne Staley] Am I wrong? Have I run too far to get home
Jar of Flies is their best album/EP for me, they had made the acoustic thing in SAP (which is pretty good too), but in JOF, Alice in Chains showed to people that could be acoustic too, not just powerful guitars and hard lyrics. Jar of Flies is top 3 grunge albums to me, love it so much, not even a single song that's bad.

Yeah, here come the Rooster, yeah. You know he ain't gonna die. No, no, no, you know he ain't gonna die. [Verse 2: Layne Staley] Walkin' tall, machine-gun man. They spit on me in my homeland
